Host Homes

In Arizona MENTOR’s adult Host Home program—also known as Adult Developmental Homes—adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities live in private family homes with dedicated caregivers who we call Mentors.  We use the term "Mentor" because the people who open their homes become so much more than just care providers.  They are advocates, teachers, friends and family.

It’s All About Choice

Every adult in our Host Home program is actively involved in planning their daily routine and services.  Depending on each individual’s unique needs, the program includes:

  • 24-hour support in family homes
  • Independent living skill development
  • Opportunities to participate in community activities and Day Programs
  • Advocacy services
  • Family involvement and support
  • Medication management
  • Quality assurance

With a track record of success, Arizona MENTOR’s Host Home program has changed the lives of hundreds of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities—giving them new opportunities to learn, grow and achieve their goals.

Making a Perfect Match

We focus on “making a match” between the adult and Mentor, creating the foundation for a lasting and enriching relationship. Supported by our specially trained clinical staff and experienced human services professionals, our Mentors provide opportunities to build skills and participate in home and community life, including:

  • Improving independence
  • Learning new skills
  • Socializing with family and friends
  • Managing household chores
  • Discovering new hobbies
  • Participating in community events
