Elder Support

Arizona MENTOR’s Elder Support Day Programs provide structured activities and enrichment for seniors with intellectual and developmental disabilities, acquired brain injury and other complex needs such as dementia and Alzheimer’s.  Staff in our Elder Support programs are specially trained in supporting individuals with dementia and helping older adults with complex challenges reach their personal goals. Whatever an adult’s age or need, we work with them to retain and strengthen the skills they already have so they can participate as fully in community life as they desire.

Transitions and Cave Creek

elder-supportArizona MENTOR offers two enriching Elder Support Day Programs called Transitions and Cave Creek. Each individual’s day is uniquely structured so they can enjoy activities they are interested in and make friends.  Our locations offer space for large group activities, a computer lab with touch-screen monitors, a fully equipped kitchen, gardening center and private therapy rooms.

Adults in our Elder Support programs participate in a wide variety of center-based activities, including cooking classes, volunteering, and vocational skill building, for those who want to work in the community. Depending on the needs of each participant, our staff also provide specialized training in:

  • Communication
  • Sensory development
  • Personal safety
